 Cracked Wheat Pilaf - Traditional Vegan Anatolian Recipe Bulgur Pilavi


  • Cracked Wheat (200 ml - 1 Water Cup)
  • Hot Water (400 ml - 2 Water Cup)
  • Olive Oil or Sunseed Oil (2 tablespoon)
  • Onion (1 Piece)
  • Tomato Paste (1 Tablespoon)
  • Salt (1 Teaspoon)
  • Black Pepper
  • Thyme 

How to Cook Cracked Wheat Pilaf - Anatolian Traditional (Recipe)

  1. Boil water in water heater.
  2. Add olive oil and chopped onion in pan - start stirring and roasting onions until they get pinkish color. (3-5 minutes)
  3. Add tomato paste in pan - continue stirring. (1-2 minutes)
  4. Transfer all ingredients in the pan to pot and add cracked wheats in pot - start stirring then add salt.
  5. Close the pot's lid, turn heat low and wait until it wheats absorb the water. (10-15 minutes)
  6. After they absorbs water, add black pepper and thyme.
  7. Pilaf is ready! Serve it hot.
